Legacy
Your Legacy
Leaving a gift to No More Landmines means that positive action to save lives and limbs will be taken as part of your legacy. By leaving a donation for mine clearance and survivor assistance you will help many families regain control of their lives. Although we hope to see an end to the impact of landmines on civilians within a decade our work will be far from over. Cluster munitions and other unexploded weapons are still being used in conflicts around the world and will need clearing for years to come; other weapons such as depleted uranium and Agent Orange are making swathes of land unusable; and there are an estimated 500,000 landmine survivors, many of whom will need care for the rest of their lives. Your support could be saving lives for years to come.
Why leave a gift in my Will?
Your Will enables you to leave a planned gift to No More Landmines whilst still ensuring that your dependents are cared for. Charitable legacies are paid before tax is deducted, which means you will also reduce the amount of inheritance tax due from your estate.
What kind of gift can I leave?
A pecuniary bequest: a gift of a specific amount of money.
A residuary bequest: once your family and loved ones have been provided for, the remainder of your estate (or a specified proportion of it) will be left for No More Landmines.
It is always best to use a solicitor when making your Will. Homemade Wills can create problems, although it is possible to get a simple Will pack from stationers (such as W. H. Smiths). These provide basic guidance and cost around £10.
