Name a Demining Dog Competition
This year, as part of No More Landmines week, we are offering all participating schools the unique opportunity to name a demining dog.
Some of the funds raised through No More Landmines Week this year will support a demining dog - from basic training as a puppy, through to working in the field - identifying the location of landmines and helping to save lives.
By raising some funds for No More Landmines you can help to support a dog from training through to the field, and you will receive regular updates on the dog's progress.
There are many easy ways to raise funds:
- You could open the competition to the school and ask students to make a small donation of 20p or 50p to submit their entry. A judging panel could then choose the best name to submit to us here at No More Landmines.
- You could hold a fundraising dog show, and allow the overall winner the prize of choosing a name to enter into our competition.
- You could encourage students to get involved in one of the many other fundraising ideas suggested in our 2008 Teacher Resource Pack, and allow the star fundraiser the honour of selecting a name.
This year's Teacher Resource pack is crammed full of all-new lesson plans, as well as short films, images, case studies, presentations and fact sheets covered all aspects of the landmine issue and the work of No More Landmines, including demining dogs, and the role of dogs in war throughout history.
Also included in the pack are terms and conditions of entry, as well as an entry form for your school to send their suggested name on. Entries must be recieved by 31st December 2008.
If you need any help or advice, or if you would like to request a copy of the 2008 Teacher Resouce Pack, please do not hesitate to contact us on info@landmines.org.uk or call the office on 020 7471 5580.
